Hancock Shaker Village
April through October, visitors may roam the Village at their own pace, talking with interpreters and choosing from a variety of craft demonstrations and programs. In the Visitor Center, exhibitions look deeper into specific aspects of Shaker life and place the Shakers into a broader American context
Iroquois Museum
An institution dedicated to fostering understanding of Iroquois culture through art. The museum includes artifacts, children’s exhibits, and a 45-acre nature park.
Olana State Historic Site
The site is Frederic Church’s 250 acre estate, and is beloved by Columbia County residents for its art, architecture, landscape, and spectacular views of the Hudson River and Catskills. Walk the grounds with a picnic lunch in tow, take a house tour, or meander through the garden.
Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome
Features over 60 vintage aircraft, as well as motorcycles and automobiles. A working airfield that also offers air shows on weekends.
The Clark Art Institute
The Clark collection is best known for an extraordinary collection of French Impressionist paintings, which take their place within a wider ensemble of masterworks that date from the Renaissance to the late 19th century.
The Underground Railroad Education Center
Stephen and Harriet Myers were the point people in Albany regarding the Underground Railroad in the 1850s. While they lived at a number of buildings in Arbor Hill in the 1850s, this is the only one still standing
Thomas Cole National Historic Site
Home to the American artist Thomas Cole, the house and studio holds many of his paintings, which are landscapes of the Catskill mountains. Patrons can even take a stroll through the flower garden or even take a lecture about the Hudson River School.
Trevor Zoo at Millbrook School
The only zoo in the country located at a High School and is accredited by the AZA. Visitors can see more than 80 animal species, including 8 endangered animals, over 6 acres.
U.S.S. Slater
The only restored World War II Destroyer Escort afloat in the United States. It was one of 563 ships that battled Nazi U-Boats on the North Atlantic during World War II, protecting convoys of men and supplies. This fully-guided tour of the ship takes at least one hour. It will require climbing ladders and walking through tight spaces
